Europe Radar is the section of our blog that is dedicated to European hip hop.

We point out labels, crews, artists and movements that seems most interesting and most similar to the Dirty Dagoes philosophy.

This section will be constantly updated. Today we start with a partial segment but full of protagonists.

In the radar of this edition we have 7 European countries: UK, France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Russia.

UK. Blah Records: This factory is hyper productive, their YouTube channel proliferates with abstract hip-hop underground projects that are truly remarkable for their size and quality. The super star of this label is definitely Lee Scott leader of Cult of The Damned.

Following this reality to be updated on what is happening in the UK is highly recomended.

France. Le Mellotron:  France in the collective imagination is always a refined place. This project does not disprove the cliché. Among the various activities offered by this collective, one of the most notable are the DJ sets streaming from the Parisian club that gives its name to the organization of events.

Rare groove, soul, funk, reggae, dub, Latin and Caribbean, deep house and underground hip hop. If you go to Paris, go to “Le Mellotron”.

Spain. Cookin Soul: This is not new and it is not a secret. The most attentive will surely already know the Spanish duo’s productions, but we believe it should be noted that in terms of beat-making they are currently absolutely the leaders in Spain.

Their network of collaborations in the US is getting stronger and their RMXs with the stakes of Snoop Dogg, Asap Rocky, Conway The Machine, Freddie Gibbs and Action Bronson made us fly high.

Germany. Diggy Mac Dirty, Der Kolibri, Luko & Wolberts: Writing a couple of lines about Germany was controversial: first of all we don’t really understand a single word of the language, a problem that will affect all other Nordic realities, secondly we noticed how it is full of huge realities in the mainstream that move big numbers but to find real underground projects was hard, also to not to fall into the bias of naming the ever-green Snowgoons, our friends and collaborators.

In the end we found 3 MC’s that we really like and that are known in Germany in the Battle Rap scene. This gave us a sort of a guarantee that their rhymes are dope plus the flow and the sound convinced us to mention them on this.

Holland. Killer Kamal: Even in Holland we realized that there is really a lot of mainstream with mind-boggling numbers, a lot of “female mc’s”, a lot of trap, a lot of house rap and even the dance hall is well represented. In the hardcore sector, on the other hand, Killer Kamal certainly stands out. Mc of Moroccan origins with an absurd voice, a powerful flow and hilarious video clips, Killer Kamal always finds a way to hidden his face, the whole character is built on this.

His stuff also touches very commercial peaks, but everything he does is done with an underlying irony, and we love that.

Hungary. Killakikitt: This gang is 100% hard core rap, really heavy and raw sound.

The shocking thing are the numbers that  their material can reach out: millions of views and millions of streams.

This prove that hip-hop scene in Budapest is no joke. The imagery is horror core, the instrumentals proudly in the 90 bpm range and full of macabre samples, tight metrics and scratched voices.

If you need an injection of raw hip hop from Eastern Europe they are absolutely an authority on the matter.

Russia. Rem Digga: Another example of underground material that moves mainstream numbers.

This MC, in addition to being dangerous with the microphone in his hand and having won several Rap Battles, is a poly-instrumentalist.

His music is strong and melancholy and engages a huge audience. Digging his video clips we realized that this artist is suffering from some physical handicap that forces him into a wheelchair.

It is really difficult to get more information about him and the Cyrillic alphabet does not help us.

In 2017 he signed a featuring with Onyx, a group that he claims to was his greatest musical influence in rap since a child.

Much esteem for Rem Digga.
